Incumbent Gina Sillitti (D) was challenged by Vibhuti Jha (D) and was one of few Dems in the county to declare a win Wednesday morning.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Voters went to the polls on Tuesday to elect a new Assembly member from the 16th NY Assembly District. Incumbent Gina Sillitti (D) was challenged by Vibhuti Jha (R) who is seeking his first term.

Sillitti declared victory early Wednesday after a close race. With all of Nassau's districts reporting, the totals were:

Gina Sillitti — 25, 833 votes

Vibhuti Jha — 24, 241 votes

We did it! It may end up being one of the closest races in New York, in a very very tough year, but we did it. I could not have done any of this without the hundreds of volunteers who came out over the past few days, weeks, and months to support and assist me. — Gina Sillitti Sillitti won the district in 2020 with 53.7 percent of the vote.

The 16th District includes Great Neck, Kings Point, Port Washington, Manorhaven, Flower Hill and Manhasset.
